With some of the toughest drunk driving laws in the nation, 2007 changes to the DUI legislation in Arizona have created a new, enhanced sentence for certain extreme DUI offenses. If you are stopped for drunk driving and your blood alcohol content (BAC) level is .20 or greater, you now face even more severe punishment including stiffer fines, fees and assessments, and mandatory jail time of at least 45 days.

Phoenix Super Extreme DUI/DWI Lawyer
If you are convicted of a Super Extreme DUI offense anywhere in the greater metro area from Chandler to Sun City, jail time and other serious punishments for a first time offense will include:
- 45 days in jail that a judge cannot suspend. Everyone in Arizona convicted of Super Extreme DUI must spend 45 days in jail
- Fees, fines and assessments of approximately $3150 plus additional jail costs
- An ignition interlock device installed on your vehicle for 18 months that can cost you an additional $1500 or more
- Driver's license suspension for 90 days, with a work-restricted permit possible after 30 days
- A substance abuse evaluation and possible mandatory education or counseling depending on the outcome
- Possible probation for up to five years and community service
Super Extreme DUI/DWI convictions with a prior DUI conviction within the past 84 months (7 years) result in a mandatory minimum sentence that must include:
- 180 days in jail that cannot be suspended
- Fines, fees and assessments of approximately $4550 plus additional jail costs
- A substance abuse evaluation and possible mandatory education or counseling depending on the outcome
- Driver's license revocation for two years, with the installation of a certified ignition interlock device on your vehicle for a year after license reinstatement
